What is a Smart Home?

A smart home is a space in which Wi-Fi or Bluetooth enabled products are installed as part of an integrated solution, allowing your customer to add a layer of automation into their daily lives. This could include light switches, thermostats, appliances and entertainment systems, all controlled via an app or a centralised smart hub, also known as a controller, gateway or coordinator.

Ring Indoor Camera

In our last blog (Smart home products for the kitchen) we touched upon some of the areas that smart home products cover. Whilst products like the Sonos One Black speaker and the Smart plugs are great for convenience and simplifying your customers' daily routines, the Wireless Ring Indoor Camera brings an entirely different element to the modern smart home – Safety and security.

There are many benefits associated with a wireless indoor camera, but one of the biggest is the ease of installation. The compact camera pacts the perfect punch with size and power.

With both ceiling and wall mounts, it can be placed almost anywhere within your customer's home, and it is installed by a simple plug-in. The camera comes in both black and white to fit discreetly and aesthetically in your customer's home.

Sonos One Speaker (Gen 2)

Next on the smart home product list is the Sonos One Black speaker (Gen 2).

When thinking of smart homes, the first thing many people associate them with is entertainment systems. The Sonos One does not disappoint. From an aesthetic point of view, the stylistic finish comes in black and white, with a compact design that blends seamlessly with your customer's interior.

The Sonos One integrates perfectly with the Amazon Alexa to offer voice-activated and hands-free music, news, shopping lists and more to any living space – the Sonos One is compatible with all primary streaming services. With a pair of class D amplifiers and custom-built drivers, the Sonos One is fine-tuned to generate rich and room-filling sound.

To further enhance your customer's experience with the Sonos One, pair them together to achieve instant stereo sound. You can also add a Sub for deep base or pair it with your playbar or Playbase for epic wireless home theatre surround sound.

With privacy in mind, you can easily tell if the microphone is activated or not by the illuminated LED light, and you can control the device with your voice, the Sonos app, AirPlay, or your favourite music service's app.

Smart Plugs

Smart plugs are great additional devices to any job and another firm fixture in making a home 'smart'. With the wireless smart plug from Enforcer or the Wireless Texecom Connect Smartplug, you can offer your customers the opportunity to have instant control over their home devices via the HomeControlHub App or the Texecom Connect App.

While the wireless smart plug for Enforcer is only compatible with the HomeControlHub App for the Pyronix Android tablet, it connects instantly to WiFi and can be automated to complete scenes in order. Scenes are a series of tasks that the user initiates, such as lamps, lighting, appliances etc. The Smart plug will then move from one task to the next and can toggle the devices on and off.
